Ugborough Parish Council – Supporting the Community
The Parish Council plays an important role as the grassroots level of Local Government, directly representing and promoting the interests of its community. In addition to the Councillors, who are your unpaid representatives, the Parish Council employs a Clerk to carry out its business and ensure the many statutory requirements on the Parish Council are met. To finance the Parish Council, a small levy is made on your Council Tax, called the Precept. In the 2009/10 financial year, the Parish Council spent over £15,200, funded by a precept of £11,500.
Ugborough Parish Council meets on the second Thursday of each month, when the public is welcome to attend and have the opportunity to ask questions. The Agenda, outlining the business to be discussed, and the Minutes, or record of the Ugborough Parish Council Meeting, are displayed on the Parish Council notice boards in Ugborough Square , at Bittaford bus shelter and outside Wrangaton Post Office. In addition, they are displayed on the Parish Council website, ugboroughparishcouncil.gov.uk and a summary of Parish Council activity is given in the Newsletter.
